WRITING
Words are important. They are a major part of the connection between us. The right word at the right time can change a relationship, can make you a friend and can bring happiness to those around you. Use them wisely.
A BIT ABOUT ME
I spent a large part of my working life teaching others to use words in English - a language that was a second or third language for most of them. Now, released from the constraints of having to work for a living, I am free to explore my own use of words in a more creative way.
I started by taking a few creative writing classes: one-off workshops, a series of lessons, and even residential courses. They were invariably useful in stimulating and motivating me and I would suggest this as a route for any other aspiring writer to follow.
I also attend a couple of writer's groups, each of which provides comment, criticism and support, as well as validation (or otherwise) of what I have written.
Validation also comes from BBC Upload. It's a weekly programme on local BBC radio stations across the UK. You submit your work and if they like it, it gets aired. I have had about a dozen pieces broadcast.
